Yes - A visa is required for travel to Turkey

The Consulate of the Republic of Turkey requires all applicants to apply directly to the Consulate.
Travisa offices can assist with information on how to make the request for an appointment. In addition, Travisa reviews the documents to insure that everything is in order for the in- person filing and can pick up on your behalf.

Passport Requirements:

Original passport and one photocopy of passport information and signature page. The passport must be signed, valid for 6 months beyond stay in Turkey, with at least two blank passport pages available for Turkey visa stamp. Amendment pages in the back of the passport are not suitable for Turkey visas.

Turkey Visa Application Form:

One signed Turkey visa application form. After placing your order, fill out the application forms included in your Visa Application Kit.
Los Angeles:The Consulate of Turkey has instituted an online visa application form. The application must be completed online then printed.  Please visit www.konsolosluk.gov.tr and select your language, then "United States of America" and "Turkish Consulate General Los Angeles".  You will then click Visa and Visa Pre-Application to access the online form. Your visa application must:

  • Include answers for all fields
  • Upload all required documents
  • Ensure personal, contact and travel information is entered correctly
  • If you are not applying for a tourist visa and are staying in a hotel, you must include host or contact person information

Photo Requirements:

Two recent, identical, 2 x 2 passport photographs, in color, front view and with a plain/light background.


OR - you can upload a photo when you place your order, instead of providing physical passport photos.

Other Forms:

A clear photocopy of state issued ID (Driver License or ID).

Letter Of Invitation:

A letter of invitation from the host company or sponsor in Turkey explaining the relationship to the applicant and the purpose of travel to Turkey. In addition, the letter must indicate the length of stay, place of stay, and host’s name and contact information.

Business Letter

Letter from employer or sponsoring company in the United States on company letterhead, introducing the applicant, indicating the applicant’s employment status/position held in the company, clearly stating the purpose of visit to country. The business letter must also indicate who will be financially responsible for the applicant and must provide detailed contact information in Turkey. Enclose a copy of the applicant’s work agreement.

Criminal Record:

A copy of applicant’s criminal record and/or good conduct record from official source in the state of your residency.

Other Requirements:

Letter of AuthorizationThe Letter of Authorization must be signed by the applicant, and the courier company must be handwritten at the bottom by the applicant. The courier name should match the company name at the top of the letters of authorization that you print.

Special Instructions:

Please send all required documents to Travisa’s office a minimum of 24 hours in advance, for consulate review, prior to your in-person submission date. Your documents should then be picked up at Travisa’s office prior to your consulate appointment.

Register your trip with the US Embassy:

The US State Department strongly encourages American citizens planning international travel to register with the US Embassy(s) in the countries they plan to visit. Registration notifies the US Embassy in each country of your travel plans and enrolls you in the State Department travel advisory and warnings program. Feel more secure about your international travels by having Travisa register your trip with the US Department of State; simply complete the form on your visa application kit after placing your order.

Non-refundable tickets or reservations should not be purchased until all visas and passports are secured and in your possession.
